The Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss), a romantic alleyway hidden in Guanajuato’s downtown, is one of the city’s most emblematic spots. The passageway’s name comes from a legend that tells of how Don Luis and his lover Carmen leaned from one balcony to the next to kiss, right before his exasperated father stabbed her.
Almost all walking tours of Guanajuato will take you here, accompanied by an animated retelling of the tale. But, if you prefer to go by yourself, it is definitely possible. Try to go with your partner and kiss on the third step—supposedly it is good luck!

43 Del Beso street, Guanajuato.
What to Know
Locals explain that many kinds of kisses can be shared in the alleyway—a peck (beak to beak), a so-called “combination lock” (2 to the right and 2 to the left), a musician’s kiss (pucker up), and more.
