There are two reservoirs nearby that were built to irrigate fields and provide water to the Hacienda de Jalpa; however, today they can satisfy the adventurous spirit of those who love nature. The first, the Presa Vieja, dates back to the 18th century and in its time was an impressive work of engineering. The second is the new dam, or the Presa de Santa Efigenia, whose long curtain wall in an arch formation is the product of the architect Cecil Louis Long’s creativity.
Useful Information
There is a family bicycle tour available that takes you directly to the dam, organized by the Parroquia del Señor de la Misericordia and includes transport.
