Traverse the Waves at Santa María, El Playón and Isla San Martín beaches
From the shore you can marvel at the surfers who rise up into the waves and ride them at breakneck speeds. In San Quintín, there are a number of spots where you should definitely consider escaping to for a few hours, such as the waters off the beaches of Santa María and El Playón as well as the island of San Martín—one of the thirteen extinct volcanoes—which has perfect, consistent waves almost all year round. To ride the waves in lesser-known spots, we recommend heading out with the local fishermen who will know the secret little hideaways.
