The Otomí people in the town of San Pablito continue to the paper-making tradition of their ancestors. While nowadays amate paper can be found made for export, it continues to be prepared for ceremonial purposes. Sorcerers use it as an offering in their rituals. Many productions are represented by good and bad spirits.

Useful Information
Production begins with the artisan choosing the jonote bark to boil, rinse, and dry. Later it will be colored with natural dyes.
