On Balderas street, across from Morelos park, is one of the city’s most charming plazas. Discover the Mercado de Artesanías offering handicrafts made of wood, clay, and glass, as well as souvenirs from around the country. Inside the plaza’s neoclassical building, recently turned into the Ciudad de los libros y la imagen (City of Books and Images) library, you can visit the children’s rooms and the private libraries of poet Alí Chumacero and historian Carlos Monsiváis. On weekends, stroll around Plaza del Danzón and dance to the rhythm of danzón music from Cuba.
