Nuestra Señora de la Asunción Cathedral Basilica
One of the oldest churches in the city, ground was broken for it in 1575. Construction took place over various stages, producing its emblematic baroque-style limestone entrance. Inside is the painting of San Juan Nepomuceno, and the center nave holds a wooden pipe organ and a white marble cypress holding an image of the Virgin of the Assumption. Its walls are adorned with paintings by artists such as Miguel Cabrera, Juan Correa, José de Alcíbar, and Andrés López.
