An old, 16th-century mansion is home to the Handicraft and Cultural Center of Izamal that carefully preserves an interesting handicraft collection that is part of the Fomento Cultural Banamex organization. It is arranged into 5 areas: clay, wood, metal, vegetable fibers, and textiles. The creators are this Magical Town’s most outstanding artisans.
The collections share the space with a shop selling typical Mayan handicrafts: huipil blouses, hammocks, and Mayan figurines. Their restaurant offers an extensive menu of dishes from the Yucatan, and there is also a spa providing treatments created from the combination of age-old Mayan traditional medicine and the best massage techniques.
