Historic Center
Mazatlán may be one of the only beach destinations where visitors can walk vibrant streets among majestic buildings that are evidence of past grandeur. The Historic Center is Mazatlán’s preeminent cultural heart and the perfect spot to spend time in a festive atmosphere filled with tradition, culture, and merriment. Start your tour in the Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción, a cathedral built in an eclectic style with a strong European influence. Then, head to Plaza Machado, a square surrounded by fancy buildings that entice you to eat, wander, or just relax. Yet another notable building is Teatro Ángela Peralta, one of the country’s oldest theaters where shows are still being put on.
Useful Information
Do you want to experience downtown differently? Try one of Mazatlán’s famous pulmonías, vehicles similar to golf carts that can take you down main street and along the waterfront. Don’t forget to snap a selfie!
