A Can’t-Miss Tourist Attraction
El Cielo’s beach holds one of Cozumel’s most unique and lovely attractions. The idyllic spot—its name does mean “heaven”—just half a mile from the coast is a sea star observatory. Because the water is shallow, it is the perfect place to get a look at these invertebrates in what is considered their sanctuary.
Remember not to touch or move the stars, as this is dangerous for them. Observing them is an unforgettable experience.
What to Do in El Cielo
In El Cielo, with its warm, peaceful water, you can try out a range of activities such as kayaking, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Snorkeling and scuba diving let you get up close with its marine creatures by exploring, for example, Cozumel’s coral reef.
This is the perfect spot to snorkel or just float peacefully while enjoying the sight of the sky reflected in the sea.
Location
Unlike other beaches, El Cielo is usually a quiet, less crowded beach. It is on Cozumel’s western coast on the part farthest from downtown San Miguel. To get there, take a catamaran from Palancar.
El Cielo is a truly magical destination if you are looking for an unforgettable experience in the Mexican Caribbean. Dive in!
