If Yucatan is proud of anything, it is of being a sisal producer, also known as green gold. The myriad uses of this fiber in many utilitarian and decorative products just continues to grow in the hands of craftspeople. For this reason, it is not surprising that the Former Maritime Customs Building, now turned into a cultural center, dedicates its time to what Yucatecans love: working sisal fibers to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Those who are interested in learning a little more about this can try out the workshops taught here.
