This lovely architectural complex was constructed between 1555 and 1666, comprising the church and the monastery.
The facade of the Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán was done in the Renaissance style, while its interior is covered in baroque adornment in an explosion of shapes and color. This is one of the most valuable examples of baroque religious art in the world.
The Ethnobotanical Gardens, the Museum of Oaxacan Cultures, and the Biblioteca Fray Francisco de Burgoa library round out the Ex Convento de Santo Domingo space.
