Make sure you stop at the entrance to the Municipal Palace (Town Hall) where a couple of murals tell you everything there is to know about Chignahuapan: from the pre-Hispanic legend telling of its founding or the dance for the town’s patron saint—performed by the santiagueros, to the offering of a thousand lights carried out on Day of the Dead.
