Main Square
Plaza de la ConstituciónHuauchinango’s shade-covered Main Square has it all. The high branches of the privets and jacarandas and the palm and ash trees provide cover. There’s a central fountain that vies for attention with the wrought-iron gazebo in the corner. You can often see women who have come from Cuacuila. They sit on the ground with their long nahuas (skirts) and embroidered blouses and offer tamales de puñete (named for their fist-like appearance) and boiled or toasted peanuts to every passerby.
