La Paz

Warm and pleasant, La Paz is more than the capital of Baja California Sur, it is a cluster of beautiful neighborhoods that we invite you to wander through, along roads that will take you from the heart of the city all the way to the gentle breeze of their beaches.  

Within this cosmopolitan and emblematic edge of the city, you will find the best restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, bars and specialized stores. It is perfect for enjoying a relaxed walk along its wide and beautifully illuminated sidewalks, on a romantic stroll as the afternoon sky above the sea turns reddish shades, or simply to enjoy some live music on the weekends. The seafront is approximately 3 miles long, and from there you can see El Mogote, a marvelous stretch of land; the pier for ecotourism cruises, and a series of bronze sculptures such as “El Cristo del Mar” (Christ of the Sea).  

If you want to keep walking through this old city, take one of the roads that end up at the seafront: Degollado, Reforma, Constitución or 5 de Mayo, any of these will quickly take you to the traditional landmark and meeting place for paceños (local people from la Paz): Jardín Velasco, where the benches, the kiosk, and its unmistakable fountain, Hongo de Balandra, are guarded over by the architectural beauty of the old buildings that surround it. Further along, only a short walk way, you will find the symbol of the capital’s religious faith, the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de La Paz; this architectural gem is located where the Jesuits Juan de Ugarte and Jaime Bravo built, in 1720, the Mission of Nuestra Señora de La Paz Airapí.
