Bastion of Santiago Museum
Baluarte de SantiagoOn the streets of Francisco Canal and Gómez Farías you will discover an example of military architecture from the colonial era. The construction of this bastion was necessary to defend against the constant attacks from pirates and buccaneers that the Port of Veracruz suffered towards the end of the 17th century and beginning of the 18th century. Inside it is a small museum with temporary exhibitions about the city’s history.
