On the stretch highway that runs from Hermosillo to San Nicolás, there is a turnoff that takes you to an aquaculture farm and then on to a virgin beach where you can sand board down enormous walls of sand.
This is also the home of an enormous forest of saguaros, a species of cardon cactus, which have grown here for over 100 years. Saguaros grow slowly, but they can get a yard taller every 30 years. So, the size of the cacti in this forest indicates they have stood here for several centuries.
