Linares Cathedral
Catedral de San Felipe ApóstolBuilt in 1770 by Franciscan missionaries, the cathedral is dedicated to Saint Philip. Its key architectural characteristics are its layout shaped like a Latin cross and limestone-covered facade displaying a refined baroque style. It was the Northeast’s first episcopal seat.
In June 2008, the bell tower holding four bells collapsed. The clock shattered, but the bells were rescued.
The interior displays a series of oil paintings portraying the four evangelists, and the main altar depicts a scene from the life of Jesus and Philip the Apostle.
