Campeche Carnival
This celebration starts with the funeral procession and the “Entierro del Mal Humor” (the bad mood burial) performed by a doll dressed as a pirate, who is paraded along the waterfront and then placed into a coffin and lit on fire. This is followed by a parade of allegorical cars with paper flowers, then the popular dances begin that last through the day and into the night, such as El Baile del Sombrero (The Hat Dance) and La Guaranducha.
When: January and February.
