New Fire Tradition
Each year at sunset on March 21st, over 100 dancers from all over Mexico gather in Plaza de los Magueyes to keep alive the New Fire tradition. The community takes part in Aztec dances from Metepec and towns such as Ixtlahuaca and other parts of Estado de México. As part of the ritual, you can enjoy poetry readings and hear pre-Hispanic legends.
