Explore Guachimontones

An hour from Guadalajara, in the town of Teuchitlán, there’s Guachimontes. It’s an archeological site discovered by Phil Weigand in 1970. It’s known for its several tiered conical structures and their surrounding circular courtyards. Like other sites, this one includes a Mesoamerican ball court, an amphitheater, terraces and buildings. In 2006, UNESCO declared Guachimontes a World Heritage Site.
