This beautiful, ancient, nearly 30,000 year-old forest is the primary green lung for the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. A designated protected area, it expands approximately 81,545 acres and is home to over 1,000 different plant species, including pine, oak, and poplar trees. You’ll also find one of the largest concentrations of dahlias, the national flower. As for animal species, it’s home to 60 mammal species including coyotes, deer, and cacomistle; 49 reptile species; 20 amphibian species, and over 200 bird species. With its natural beauty, it’s a favorite spot for those who enjoy outdoor activities. In addition to this, inside there are plenty of options for resting, eating, bike or horseback rides, camping, and swimming at the water parks.
