Try the Traditional Dishes

Pork with huajes (a legume growing on the tree of the same name) served with a delicious sweet lime agua fresca is the traditional dish. Additionally, you can eat barbacoa (pit-cooked) or chito (dried, salty goat meat), chicharrón (pork cracklings), cocido (beef soup) or moronga (blood sausage), and fava bean, bean, or ricotta gorditas, among other favorites that make the place a feast. For sweets, be sure to try the palanquetas de cacahuate (reminiscent of peanut brittle).
