Tour the Town by Carriage or Bike

You can’t leave Izamal without strolling through its Parque Principal (Main Park), climbing into a horse-drawn buggy, and doing a circle around the Historic Center to discover the legends behind each of its four corners–the bull, the Chinese person, May flower, and fallen cross–each with its own surprising story. And take this chance to get a look at some of its main churches, such as the Virgen de la Candelaria; the Santa Cruz, San José, and San Ildefonso chapels; and the old train station.
Another option for getting around the streets of this Magical Town is renting a bicycle. Pedal from corner to corner, see its colorful buildings, and feel the quiet pace of life. We suggest renting bikes early in the morning or at dusk.
