Tour its Churches

Templo-Parroquial-de-Nuestra-Señora de la Purísima-Concepción-Monterrey
Nuestra Madre Santísima de la Luz-Monterrey

The Plaza Principal is surrounded by old buildings from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. When visiting the city, take a moment to walk and admire the Templo del Señor de la Misericordia, a red brick church adorned with striking stained glass windows, murals, and other neo-Gothic decorations. Templo Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción and Templo de Nuestra Madre Santísima de la Luz are churches also worth a stop.

And certainly don’t go without getting a look at the Catedral Metropolitana. In addition to holding a sacred art collection, it was the site of interesting events in Mexican history. For example, it was the setting for General Ignacio Zaragoza’s wedding and served as a fort for Mexican troops during the Mexican-American War in 1846.
