Downtown Puerto Vallarta

Downtown Puerto Vallarta is a place that appears stuck in time. Here, you can walk among the cobblestone streets, white building fronts and red-tiled roofs. It’s where you’ll find locals and tourists mingling at the different restaurants, clubs, bars, terraces, art galleries, and studios. Be sure to make a trip to Isla del Río Cuale for souvenir shopping as well as the Archeology Museum, which is on the same island.

Start with a walk through the Plaza Principal. At the gazebo, you’ll find musical groups that will make any visitor’s day. In the same quadrant, stop in at the Presidencia Municipal, with its mural depicting the founding of the port. There’s also the Templo de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe with its gorgeous cupola. Continue down the boardwalk to enjoy the breeze and the bronze sculptures. There, you can explore handicrafts shops, boutiques, and plenty of options for trying the state’s food and drink.
