Gómez Palacio
39 miles southeast of Mapimí is this city, the second-largest metropolis in the state. Its industrial character is clear, and its revolutionary past is visible in a number or monuments that honor the heroes of the war, such as Francisco Villa and Felipe Ángeles. In the historic center, check out Parroquia de Guadalupe, Templo Expiatorio, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo Comunitario Xiximes—displaying pieces from several different ethnic groups—and Casa de Piedra, exhibiting the region’s range of minerals.
