Santiago Apóstol Church

Towards the end of July, believers gather in this church to honor Santiago Apóstol (Saint James), the neighborhood’s patron saint.

In Barrio de Santiago, it is worth taking a look at the Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol, from the 18th century. The church has a very rectilinear facade, almost square, covered in volcanic rock and framed by a pair of slender, two-story bell towers.

The interior glows with the light from multicolored stained glass windows, filled with the figures of many saints and Virgins. On July 25, the place is filled by the faithful when they come to celebrate their patron saint.
