Its full name is the Museo de Arte Hermila Domínguez de Castellanos; and this space brings together an interesting collection of contemporary Mexican paintings, particularly work by artists from Oaxaca and Chiapas, or those who have made Chiapas the subject of their paintings, such as Manuel Suasnávar. Rodolfo Morales and Luis Zárate’s oil paintings hang side by side here, along with Rufino Tamayo’s lithographs, Gunther Gerzso’s prints, and a few of Francisco Toledo’s etchings. The temporary exhibition hall displays the work of young artists from the region. Art workshops and seminars are held here, and once a year there is an auction of art from Chiapas.
