This is the town’s central park; it is dedicated to Benito Juárez, who played a crucial role in founding the state of Campeche. All of Palizada’s streets, neighborhoods and porticos converge around his bronze statue. There is also a theater, the Teatro Morón, as well as the Los Portales Café that doesn’t open until the afternoon. At midday, under the porticos that surround the park, sounds of marimba and the local bands can be heard. During the sun’s peak hours, the best thing to do is try the ice cream from La Perla de los Ríos and enjoy it under the shade.
