Located to one side of the Sculptural Mural of the Totonaca Culture, on top of a small hill, this church is Papantla’s most important religious building. It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption. Although its facade appears simple, it is known that it was built at the beginning of the 18th century by the Franciscans.
Its walls are decorated with vanilla flower details and the symbol of Nahui-Ollin.
