San Francisco de Asís Parish Church

Inside this church is a portrait of Saint Ramón Adame, one of the martyrs of the Cristero War that Nochistlán grieved for. His ashes are kept here.

The church, from the 17th century, for a long time had a cemetery in front of it instead of an atrium. Now it stands alone with its quarry stone facade, simple, in the Franciscan tradition. Once inside, the visitor is received by a mesquite wood floor, with lines emulating stone slabs.
