Rosete Aranda International Puppetry Festival

The government of the state of Tlaxcala and the Instituto Tlaxcalteca de la Cultura de CONACULTA (Tlaxcalan Institute of Culture from the National Board for Culture and Arts), organize this annual international puppetry festival. It is comprised of more than 80 shows in the state’s 40 municipalities. Branches of the festival are put on throughout the center of the country by the Fondo Regional para la Cultura y las Artes (Regional Fund for Culture and Arts). A number of international and national troupes participate with creative installations. But there are also related activities, such as exhibitions and workshops. For more than 30 years this tradition has brought together puppeteers, researchers, puppetry promoters, and a faithful audience.
