Explore Cueva del Agua Cave
To reach this cave, you will need to walk from the town of San José. Cueva del Agua is El Cielo’s most popular cave. Set 40 minutes up the mountain from the town, it is famous for its surreal natural landscape with green canyons carpeted with moss, fantastical rock formations, and age-old trees.
The cavern is part of a karst rock system that lets rain water filter through the ground, forming underground rivers and pools. They are explored only by experts who study their troglodyte animals, which lack eyes and pigmentation, such as blind fish.
Steps and railings make the cave easy to access for the whole family.
