Walk the ornately paved streets

Take a stroll through Amealco’s ornately paved streets. Get a good look at the well-preserved pink cantera stone and beautiful arch-lined porches that recall Querétaro City. Though the stacks of wood and clay-tiled roofs will suddenly have you feeling like you’re in a rural town in Michoacán.
Walk a few blocks southeast along Hidalgo Street in the opposite direction of Amealco’s historic center until you reach number 691. You’ve arrived at Capilla de Chalma, a.k.a. Chalmita. The chapel was built in the 19th century from adobe walls, wood, and pink clay tiles.
