Try the Gastronomy from the Malecón Ribereño

While you sail down the Río Papaloapan, you will spot a series of perfect places for trying the varied gastronomy of Tlacotalpan, all the way along its riverside shore.

Here is a selection of some of their typical dishes: tapado de jolote (fish in tomato sauce), canates al mojo de ajo (garlic cooked prawns), tortitas de tismiche (fish egg rolls); tortuga en estofado o al moste quemado (turtle stew), tamal de cazuela, ropa vieja de iguana (iguana stew), piripituche (crab and prawn broth), caldo de róbalo (seabass broth); and everyone’s favorite drink: toritos (creamy drinks made from milk and peanuts) that come in many flavors: peanut, cedar tree fruit, soursop, and coconut. For dessert, try the coconut-stuffed oranges!
