Santa María Magdalena Chapel
Visit this chapel to see where evangelization in the area began. A remnant of the region’s history, it is a priceless jewel.
Built in the 16th century, this chapel dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene belonged to the governor of Nueva Galicia, Cristóbal de Oñate. It became the region’s first chapel, where the Augustine diocese set out to evangelize the area, and as a result, founded Tacámbaro.
