Cuera Tamaulipeca Jackets and Other Handicrafts
Don’t leave without picking up a unique piece, carefully crafted by local artisans.
In Tula you will find a wide range of locally-made regional objects. The classic handicraft is cuera tamaulipeca, a leather jacket with long fringe and embroidery that marks wearers as locals. There are also baskets and rugs woven out of istle, agave, and palm fibers. Traditional saddlery is another regional specialty, producing hand-carved saddles that are true works of art.
