Foundation Day marks the establishment of the city in 1531 and celebrates James the Apostle, who united the Spanish and the indigenous people on these lands. In honor of Foundation Day, the city sponsors events such as outdoor concerts, plays, and all kinds of spectacles to create a fun, celebratory atmosphere.
