In the old square of San Roque you’ll find El Parián, a handicrafts market where you can find the best of Pueblan and Mexican folk art at great prices. Around the statue of St. Francis of Assisi you’ll find stands selling traditional candies, wooden toys, Talavera pottery, and all kinds of textiles coming from different locations.
Since 1760, this place has been known as a rendezvous point for all those interested in shopping for handicrafts and trying regional delights. Today, it’s a great draw for tourism to the state capital. So much so, in fact, that some consider it the second-most important landmark in the city, after the cathedral.
