Churches and Places of Worship

The Iglesia del Cerro de los Remedios church, which holds several pieces of sacred art, is unique for its location high on a massive hill. To see an example of Gothic architecture, you have to visit the Templo de Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles, which took 88 years to build. 

Then there is Templo de San Juan Bautista de Analco, which represents the founding of Spain’s new Nueva Vizcaya province. And a tour of Durango’s churches is not complete without Templo de San Juanita de los Lagos, dating from the second half of the 18th century. It once served as the chapel of the state’s former Colegio Jesuita.
