Pueblo del Maíz Park

There are two ways to learn about Mayan history: through books or by experiencing it! Set off on a journey into the past with the ancient Maya and become a part of history through Pueblo del Maíz’s interactive activities. Learn more about this fantastic park, located in the state of Quintana Roo.

What makes Pueblo del Maíz special?

On a mystical journey, explore a chiclero gum camp and watch how chicle, used to make gum, was extracted. After offerings are presented to the goddess Ixchel, the sacred kapok tree is the link to the purification ritual leading to Pueblo del Maíz. 

Each hut welcomes you in with unique activities to experience village life. Learn how tortillas were made—enjoy the hands-on experience and savor ancient flavors. 

Plus, watch how chocolate was prepared to be eaten and make your own on a metate grinding stone. The tour ends with the ancient ball game. Take up the challenge and have fun trying to pass the ball through the hoop.
