An Island You Must Visit... at Least Once in a Lifetime
People feel, upon arriving at Holbox, that they have discovered something special. Its name means black hole in Maya, despite the greenery and transparency everywhere. Between rainforest and sea, the island overflows with charm. Experiences like swimming with the whale shark to bird watching, await you at this destination, full of luxury, tranquility, adventure, and pleasure.
How to Get There
The island is located approximately 100 miles northeast of Cancún (8 miles from the coast of Quintana Roo). It lies north of the Península de Yucatan, where the waters of the Gulf of Mexico join those of the Caribbean Sea.
From Cancún, we recommend you take the federal highway to Mérida, heading towards Nueva Valladolid. There, continue towards Kantunilkín and then Chiquilá to find the motorboats that take you to the island. You can leave your car at one of the parking lots in the town.
To arrive by bus from Cancún, you have to go to the main bus station.
The best option is to fly to Cancún and continue by road until you reach the town of Chiquilá.
