Take a boat out on the lake to discover the islands’ natural beauty and admire the deeply rooted culture of the Purépechas.
Two and a half miles from downtown are the docks where you can board boats that ply the waters of this gorgeous lake. The classic outing is to Janitzio, the largest island. An enormous monument to José María Morelos stands tall in its center. But you can also visit Pacanda, Tecuena, and Yunuén, equally lovely islands.
