Take a Boat Ride and Admire the Surroundings

The Tampaón river, as the upper part of the Santa María river is known, boasts eye-catching turquoise water flowing through limestone rocks and lush vegetation.

To enjoy the river and the surrounding scenery, we suggest renting a panga, a traditional wooden boat. The scenery is gorgeous, and you can float through a narrow, tree-filled canyon bursting with parrots and other birds. The only sounds you’ll hear are the birdsong and the voices of fishermen.

You can also stop at Cueva del Agua, a pit with a pool of crystal-clear water, descending over 26 feet. If you enjoy the rush of diving, this is the spot for you.
