Marvel at Manchones reef’s beauty, one of Isla Mujeres’ natural treasures
There are a wide variety of natural settings in the Mexican Caribbean that draw tourists from around Mexico and the world. One of these is the amazing Manchones reef, made of a coral bank measuring almost 7.5 miles long and 765 feet wide. It is located some 10 minutes from Isla Mujeres by boat and is perfect for exploring the wonders of the ocean.
In addition to the reef, another of the area’s key landmarks is Cruz de la Bahía (Cross of the Bay), a 10-foot-high bronze cross. Located 39 feet below the surface, this is one of the most popular sites for scuba divers. An interesting bit of trivia is that the Cruz de la Bahía was installed in 1994 and honors the women and men who died at sea.
Plus, this is also the site of the Museo Subacuático de Arte (Underwater Museum of Art, MUSA). It functions as a natural reef and is a top spot for tourists and adventurers.
