Stroll the Callejón del Cariño
Carranza Avenue and Francisco I. Madero Street shelter a corner beloved by the people of San Luis for its role in the city’s history. Called the Callejón del Cariño, or alley of affection, legend has it that in the middle of the 19th century this was the site of a pulquería run by Isabel Bedolla, called “La Cariñosa,” or affectionate lady. Unrequited lovers sought her out for comfort. She also created amulets and cast spells to ensure love. It is a good spot to pop into one of its cafés and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
