Metropolitan Cathedral of San Luis Potosí

Catedral Metropolitana de San Luis Potosí

Where the Cathedral now stands was once San Luis’ first parish church, built of adobe with a wood-shingled roof. In 1730, the cathedral was constructed out of limestone blocks. It features two series of columns and three naves. The interiors display the work of the Italians Claudio Molina and Giuseppe Compiani (who decorated palaces in Constantinople, Russia, Alexandria, and California), which was restored in 1954 by decorator Francisco Ramírez.
